Label Questions
« on: August 27, 2019, 11:03:42 PM »
I am looking for some advice on labels.  The car is a 65 coupe Dearborn, March 11 65 build, 2V-289, Cruise-O-Matic.  My grandfather bought it new, so I am going by memory to some extent.

I never remember an Autolite label on top of the air cleaner, but maybe it was.  Could it have been the straight style on the driver's side of the housing?

I am pretty sure the air pressure label was on the drivers side on the back of the glove box door.  Does this sound right?

Should there be a cooling system label in front of the radiator?  I never remember this.

Many thanks in advance!

Believe it was likely that the AUTOLITE was on the drivers side of the base rather than on the lid. Have original examples of this location preceding your cars build period - back at least to 5F2726xx

Sorry don't have any pictures of the standard tire pressure decal location for that year and plant

Don't recall ever finding the sticker sold for the AC /coolant  that some install on the radiator support

Guess you have all the others covered

Thanks J, you confirmed what I thought.  If anyone can confirm the air pressure label on the back of the glove box door, driver's side, that would be great.

I believe I have the rest of the labels covered.  At least they are all in place, so I don't want to think about them anymore.  :)

Got the Engine ID one on and located on the water pump?

One of the more often missed ones)   ::)

Good catch, no I don't have that one.  Looks like the label is C1 550J for a 2V Auto.  Where on the water pump does it go?

I don’t think there would have been a tire pressure decal in the glove box. None of my unrestored 65’s have one .

I am going on memory here.  I read that they were located on the glove box itself or on the back on the glove box door.  It definitely was never on the glove box itself.  I remember the car actually had the oil change stickers from the gas station on the back of the glove box door and I have been trying to convince myself the tire air pressure was there too.  Is there someplace else on the car it would have gone?  My memory says the label was on there somewhere, but I may just be remembering the chart from the manual.

Using the search and the words "engine ID 65) this one came up

Not the clearest but not lots of room to see it.

As far as the normal tire pressure decal  Mike is likely correct and like some other stickers we assume would be there, there wasn't one

You can always add one later if the facts or findings change but you don't want to install and have to try and remove one from the cardboard liner or other surface

Excellent, thank you for the link to the picture.  I remember that sticker on the original pump which I replaced around 77-78.  It was my first experience with a spewing weep hole.  I can still see the green stream running down the hill in front of my grandparents.

I agree with your advice on holding off on the tire pressure label until I am sure.  I am taking the car to Fredericksburg this weekend and plan to do some recon. I definitely won't assume what I see is correct without some additional verification.

All good now.  Thank you to everyone for their help!
