Does anybody have some good pictures of what the boot looks like on the assembly ?

Thanks,

Tough spot to get any high definition pictures.  Anything specific you are looking for ?  Brian

And don't forget to add the special wire clip designed to hold the reverse light harness missing from admittedly nice picture before stuffing trans.

Thanks,

This picture should help you orient your boot on the shifter and tailshaft ?  You will need to mount the boot and shifter before installing the trans.  The rest of the assembly process is 3/4 rod to 3/4 lever and so on.  The levers will be adjacent to the slots in the boot.  If you have the back up light assembly it is best to install at this time as well.  If using the bracket Gaines mentioned now is the time to mount that as well.  Second picture shows the rod, lever and boot openings.  3/4 on the LEFT, 1/2 in the same opening and R closest to the tail shaft. A few more questions:

- Is the 1st picture of the boot of an original boot ?  Mine is the same.

- What goes in the slots labeled 3 and 4 in my pictures.

- I do have the wiring clip on the top of the trans. How is the wiring routed ?

Thanks,
John

OE 69 4 speed Transmission ? OE 69 shifter ?  OE C9OA-A shifter boot ?  OE back-up light harness ?  The pictured shifter boot is OE.  The shifter Pictured and descriptions should help to answer your questions. Brian

Thanks Jim.

So does the wiring go around the backside of the boot and the backup switch come in from the back ?

I got an uneasy feeling when I read the reply about installing the boot before the trans went in as I had just put the trans in without the boot and linkage the day before the reply was posted. I was able to get it mounted without removing the trans but it was not a lot of fun !!

Thanks for the help,
John
