My 1965 fastback (February 16, 1965/San Jose) has 6 pieces of stainless trim around the large back glass: two long, horizontal pieces that slip together at the top; same thing on the bottom; and then two vertical pieces on the left and right sides that attach to the ends of the longer pieces on the top and bottom.  But at a recent small car show all of the dozen or so '65 fastbacks had just 4 pieces of "U" shaped stainless trim around the rear glass.  I went on CJ Pony's website and found that they sell the 4 piece stainless trim as an aftermarket set, but it didn't seem likely that so many of the 6-piece factory trim sets would have been replaced with the aftermarket 4-piece sets.  But maybe I'm wrong and the 6-piece sets are disappearing from the fastback landscape.  Anyway, I would like to know what '65 fastback owners on the forum have on their cars, especially cars like mine that still have the original factory paint and no signs that the stainless trim has ever been removed.  Thanks, Ron.

How about adding a picture or two?  Might help spur discussion

Mine has 4 as well. The trim appears original.

Four here also. They are absolutely original. Back glass has never been removed and the one re-paint that was done by a PO, they did a cheapo mask job on the moldings. I did some paint removal many years ago on them.

Thanks, everyone.  It's now obvious from your replies and other research I've done that my stainless was probably "fashioned" by a PO. maybe partially from a '67 fastback which I believe came with the 6 pieces.  So now I'm on the hunt for a nice set of used, original 4-piece stainless moldings for the'65  fastback's rear glass.  If anyone has a set for sale, please PM me.  And thanks again, as always, for all the helpful responses to my post!  Ron...

For future viewers of this thread.

Red arrows indicate the location of the joints of of the rear window trim

NOS trim went obsolete over ten years ago so its difficult to find some pieces but the originals are in general thicker and of heavier material/makeup when compared to the reproduction. Go figure
