Interior quarter panel beltline
« on: April 12, 2019, 05:38:13 PM »
Hey guys,

How are you supposed to attach the interior quarter panel beltline for the quarter window on a 67 coupe. I see the repops have staple holes (which do not line up) and I would think doing this by hand promotes possible window scratching if you don't get it perfect. Could you use an adhesive? And if so what kind, being the back side is rubber.

Please photo of beltline piece I am talking about

There are multiple ways to attach these all with their down sides.  But attaching them as Ford did isn't really difficult just takes some time and planning. a staple (bought or hand made) can be held tightly in place while the ends are turned over and smashed to retain the weather strip to the panel. A final tap in place against a hard surface makes sure the final form is as flat as possible. You can use a small flat end punch of a section of bar stock that fits the profile. When finished check to make sure there wasn't a small burr produced during the process.
