Differences Between 69/70 Metal Dash Panels
« on: May 09, 2019, 12:01:08 AM »
Hello all!

Over the weekend I was able to find and purchase a 69 Sportsroof (9R02F1031XX, 302, C4, drums, Sept. 68). It needs some work as you can surmise by the picture. Of the things it needs, one item is a new lower metal dash panel, not a dash pad.

Is there a difference between the 69 and 70 dash panels? I see that multiple mustang part suppliers sell 1969 dash panels, but I'm not finding 1970's. There is a 1970 lower dash panel removed from a 1970 for sale near me.

The attached pic is exactly how it looked when we pulled it out of the collapsing makeshift "barn"

Yes, they are different and there are 2 variations for each year

1969 w/ A/C

1969 w/o A/C

Yes, I believe that Dynacorn makes one reproduction dash panel.

To add to what Dave said above: Mustangs can also have 1 or 2 extra holes for warning lights. They would be adjacent to the ignition switch and wiper switch.

In 1970 the ignition switch got moved to the steering column and the cigar lighter got moved to the dash. Also with or without air conditioning. 1970 might also have holes for optional warning lights.

The 70 that you have access to would not be correct for the car you showed above

To add some more illustrations to the comments above

69 with some of the warning lights  as well as the ignition and wipers
