68 AC Blower Motor Rubber Hose to Blower Housing... or not?
« on: April 13, 2019, 10:43:14 PM »
My 68 with factory A/C has the original blower motor with a hole, but nothing in the hole.

I purchased a 67 blower motor and housing... much different in that area. It must be an earlier 67 from what I have found. The blower motor has a nipple for the hose, and the hose goes to the blower motor housing.

The MPC list the hose for 67-70 with A/C as C7ZZ-19A786-A.  Did my 68 just run with an open hole, or am I missing a part?  If I am missing the hose, where does the end that does not go to the blower motor housing go?  Ideas on the function of the part (I’ve noticed a similar design on my 1990 Country Squire).

You have discovers one of the many subtle changes between 67 and 68. In fact I am not sure but late 67s may have not used the cooling hose either.
You are not missing any thing on the 68. Ford engineers must have decided the cabin air provided enough cooling for the motor and the bean counters could save a dime.
Good luck with your project.

It is surprising to see the hose used that late in 68, I could believe that a early 68 may have used a left over one. May be this is a supplier difference. What plants are your built in and are you sure that the blowers are original?

Here is a compilation of the A/C parts I have that I was going to sell, but since I have no idea of value of the individual pieces, they just lay on the shelf. I had considered using some of the vents in my modified 65, but haven't finished the A/C buildup due to the Shelby restoration.

The other stamps seem to match the fan motor date. On mine the stamps are original.

I have found that there are two different hoses used on the heater blower motors. I also think that they were eliminated at some point too.
C7ZA-19A786-A and C7ZA-19A786-B.

C7ZA-19A786-B hose is marked with the Ford casting number.

Great feedback and input. Thank you.

Cleaned up the 67 motor and housing. Motor date is June 20 or 26, 1967. Housing has a date of H7F21 which I am guessing has something to do with June 21 1967. No idea of plant.

So there seems to be two blower motors marked:
C7AF-18527-A with the hose nipple (used with hose C7ZA-19A786-A?)
C7AF-18527-E with the hose hole (used with hose C7ZA-19A786-B, or none at all depending on blower motor housing)

I will let you experts figure out the switchover date. My car is a 68 Dearborn, May 9 scheduled build.

I did a little checking and this is what I found so far.

1. Nov 10 1967 has the hose. Metuchen 1968 GT 350 unrestored

2. Jan 18 1967  has the hose.  Unknown plant - my parts

3. June 12 1968 no hose.    Unknown plant - my parts

4. Oct 21 1966 has the hose.    Unknown plant - my parts

5. January 1967 has the hose.    Unknown plant - my parts

So far the original poster's March 22 1968 is the earliest with no hose
