Topic: 1965 Coupe with mis-stamped VIN

You've may have seen this before - it's been a while since I've owned the car and documented its odd VIN.

GT with a T


I'm sure it was a V-8 with an incorrect VIN stamped but not knowledgeable enough to say it's a real GT.

Wish I took more pictures - especially the firewall when I partially removed the insulation to check for the factory spot welds.  Although the front sub-frame rails under the floor pans were a mess, it wasn't clipped.

Never have I seen a San Jose built Mustang with a "mis-matched" engine code that had not been corrected at the factory.

Its apparent that this is not an untouched car so allot of things are possible.   Love those rear leaf springs

My 7R02C (By title, data plate, Marti report) is 7R02S on inner fender both sides.  Proper date coded sheet metal, bought from original owner, never hit.

I noticed one of the pictures is a goof.  The picture showing the end of a leaf spring with some weld beads on the leaf came from a red '65 fastback I had at the time.  That was the same car I mentioned elsewhere in which somebody had the bright idea of welding coil springs from the read axle U-bolts to the body.

In regards to the mystery coupe, too bad I couldn't keep it.  I had thoroughly looked to ensure it wasn't two cars welded together  but I didn't take pictures.  It is one of those which really needs to be seen in person.  I had bought that car from the proprietor of Mustangs and More in Ventura and she knew about the car since 1980 something.
