Color of headliner for 70 Mach1 with Medium Blue Interior
« on: November 02, 2010, 01:38:12 AM »
I have a 70 Mach1 Built 9/69 in Metuchen.  I do not have any of the original headliner. What color should the headliner be when the interior is code 3B Medium Blue Clarion knit/Corinthian Vinyl?

Should it be medium blue or dark blue?
Was there more than one shade of blue available in 70?
Did 69 have a different shade of blue?

Interesting question

Looked through the pictures I have (not allot of us take pictures of headliners ;)

Found three cars one early Deaborn, one late Dearborn and one NJ all with the same interior code.

From the pictures I appears that the head liner color changed at some point  but that was later in the year.

You might try passing the same question over on the 628 CJ site to get a wider/larger sampling

Hope this helps

Thank you Jeff for your reply.  I have been saving some Ebay pictures and have the same problem of not many pictures of headliners  ;).  I have seen some pictures that appears to have both the medium and dark blue headliners, but didn't know if the Ebay cars have had the headliners changed.

I will post over at the CJ forum to see if they can help.

I just talked to Steve at Perogie.  He has an early 69 and an late (April) 69 built in Metuchen with blue interior.  Both of his cars have dark blue headliners and are original to his cars.

I am thinking mine should also have the Dark blue headliner.  I have been told the dark blue headliner also looks better  :D

Didn't mention 69's since I thought we might find things changed over the two year period

I am thinking that since your pictures point to early 70 cars have dark blue headliners and the 69 NJ's cars also have dark blue, it is a pretty good chance that an early 70 NJ car would also have dark blue.

When I posted for help, I was also only thinking about 70 cars. Since I didn't get as many responses as I thought I would. I will use the 69 NJ cars and your 70's as the basis of my decision. I am thinking there just isn't many blue interior cars left.
