How to identify OEM hood 1967?
« on: April 23, 2019, 05:49:20 AM »
Hello,

Did a search, but couldn't find.

Would be great if someone can give me a hint how to identify an original hood 1967 (deluxe)?

- stamped date code?
- how to read?
- where located/position?
- some pictures?
- engineering number?

EDIT I: Did my search not precisely. Found this one now:

Nevertheless, as I understood, only month, year and plant are shown up. What about the year? Or did I misinterpreted smth?

EDIT II
Possibly I have used the wrong column . Pls move than.

Thx for your help.

Just like almost all factory sheet metal from the time period no year is included in the stamping pattern. This is also covered in the Decoding article in the Library

Pattern = Month - Day of Month - Stamping Plant - Shift

So for a hood only the frame is dated. Location can vary depending on the specific die used and the time period

No engineering number was needed on original units since they were going to the line and carried identifiable features in the cars deluxe or standard visible features that the worker could identify and place in the coded BIN for the installer to locate
