Replacing Door Run
« on: January 03, 2019, 12:11:32 PM »
I am replacing the door Run on my 64-1/2 Coupe.  The originals have a cut out to access the rivets that attach them to the window/vent frame.  The replacements do not have a cutout.  My question is why are the cutouts there and are they even necessary?  I realize that the cutout gives you access to the rivets, but the run is just a press fit into the post behind the vent.

Would be there to allow the channel to seat completely.  The notch was eliminated later in production, not sure when.  I have had old FoMoCo service replacements with correct plastic sleeve without the notch.

Thanks Charles.  That reasoning of clearance is all I could come up with as well.  I could probably notch that area out or drill two pilot holes to clear the rivet heads if there is any interference.
