Murphy's law....it's the last thing to check....sort of....after replacing plugs, plug wires, coil, distributor cap and rotor, new points and condenser, I finally tried removing the points and condenser and putting electronic ignition in(the type that uses the stock coil but replaces the condensor and points. It started right up. To me, that doesn't makes sense, since the points seemed to create a good spark. After all this, I really don't care why....just glad it's solved. Hope this helps someone else who has a similar problem. Again, I don't understand why replacing the properly gapped points solved the problem...but it did.
