Ford Media Center Mustang PDFs
« on: December 08, 2018, 03:04:13 PM »
Not sure if this is a repeat.

Using any browser first go to google.com.
Copy/paste the second sentence that follows into Google's search box.
You'll see a few pages of some of the Ford Mustang brochures and sales info in PDF form. This is from Ford Media ...

Code: [Select]
site:https://media.ford.com/content/dam/fordmedia/North America/US/2013/11/18/ pdf
On edit -- due to how this site interprets URLs and the use of Google's site: modifier, copy the the line above into the search area of a Google Search box only.

I get the following message:

There are no results for site:https://media.ford.com/content/dam/fordmedia/North America/US/2013/11/18/ pdf
Check your spelling or try different keywords

Apparently this is not a valid way to search their site.

It appears you are not using Google.

Took a number of tries to figure out why people are having issues.

We all have personal preferences and it appears my preferences made this easy. For me. For some of you ... not so much.

The "site:" search mechanism turns out to be a Google syntax mechanism, not Firefox.
I always use Firefox and Google in combination since the two tend to be much more powerful in combination than other browsers and search sites. My preference.

The following works in MS Edge, Chrome and Firefox.

Using any browser, first search for the site "google.com"
On the mostly white Google.com page paste the syntax noted in the search box of Google (the one in the middle of the page).
Do not remove any of the spaces.

Think there are a number of sites that have also posted sale brochures and owners manuals in pdf on the site. Can't recall one at the moment, not of real use for most of our studies here but maybe I'll find them and add them for those that like to view them on other sites

After trying several times and not getting anywhere I re-reread your instructions and sure enough it worked. The key step was doing the search for Google first and using that page even though I was using a Goggle browser. Next time I will read the directions thoroughly! Thanks or posting.

That was my fault. I edited the erroneous text so as not confuse people.
You may have seen the previous, incorrect version and tried that and when you came back to the thread, it had changed.

I don't do that when dealing with a Mustang post, but this one was creating confusion so I fixed it.

If you shorten the link to end at /US/ you will get a bunch of documents through various years and vehicles. Some items include the text of Lee Iacocca's Mustang introduction speech from April 13, 1964 and the 1965 Mustang press kit. Need to scroll through the results as they are not in any particular order.
