Topic: 1970 Rear Tie Down Brackets

I would like to know if it is a bad idea to install the rear tie down brackets on my Dearborn built 1970 Mach 1 with dual exhaust as part of the restoration, or is it frond on by the judges?? Pro's: car is easily tied down if trailered, Con's: may interfere with springs and exhaust (mine do not), they do stick down below the exhaust and springs and are visible from the rear and side view of the car kind of ruining the blackout effect on the trunk drop pinch weld as 1970 are bare metal color. I understand NOT ALL where removed at the dealer. Also did only the 69 cars have the removal sticker on the license plate bracket or did the 70's also have the sticker.

Ether way is fine and most Judges don't give a second thought with the caveat of if you chose to not install them the place where they were normally installed should have signs that something was there but taken off like scuff paint from bracket and bolts etc. That look is what would be expected when a dealer worker took them off during pre inspection back in the day.

I see Marcus A. in his website article on these brackets shows a 1969 bulletin from Ford regarding removal by the Dealer and placed the license plate bracket sticker at the factory on the cars regarding same. Do you know if the same sticker was placed on the 1970 Dearborn cars with dual exhausts or was it only the 69 cars?

My expertise is spotty after 1969 Dearborn cars given the Shelby cars I focus on. It probably was but I am not 100% sure the exact same sticker was used so I was hoping that Jeff Speegle would have some evidence in his picture collection.

Two of my 428 cars still have remnants of the original sticker. October and November Dearborn.

Am assuming that is Oct/Nov 1969?? Mine is a 428 R-code built Sept 1969.
Can you tell if its the same sticker that's on the 1969 year models??

All Carl's cars are 0F or 1F so that's a safe bet.
I believe the sticker is the same for 65-73.
No "part" number on them, and looking at it logically, what reason would there be to change the sticker?

Been out for a couple days but there are examples of at least one Dearborn 70 and the tie down decal/sticker in the unrestored picture threads.
