Topic: 67 Mustang/Shelby AM radio brackets

This post applies to Mustangs and Shelbys with standard AM radio and NO console.

In looking through parts to restore I came across 3 brackets which I believe are radio related.
The Assembly manual has a drawing of a 3 piece bracket to support the rear of the radio. There is a left and right bracket that bolts to the lateral dash reinforcement U-channel (bottom of dash). Then another bracket is bolted between these two brackets with a center hole for the rear of the radio.

I found these two brackets which actually fit into the dash bottom U-channel and the hole even lines up. See pic.
I also have a Z bar which was in with the radio stuff. I think this is an earlier reinforcement bracket.

Are the pair of brackets correct? What does the Z bar fit?

The 3-piece setup is for a console (not pictured in your previous post)

The last picture could be of a non-console car (perhaps even a Mustang) but the other 2 pictures are unknown to me but certainly not a Mustang radio bracket. I wonder if those are for another car.

OK, I see what happened.
I've scanned a number of pages of the Assy manual so that I could "see" them in the house and the shop. I didn't scan the std AM install -- only the console version.

Looking at the original manual I see what the real bracket should look like. I found one in the back seat area of the parts car that's in poor condition.

I've attached a pic so that others can see what a stock one looks like. I'll try media blasting, but I don't have much hope for this one...

Bill, I used my brass tumlber for reloading. It came out very nice. It also retained most of it's factory silver cad look.

Keith -- do you use the stainless pins? My son is heavy into reloading and he likes the pins along with a special cleaner he spins in his high tech water proof tumbler.

Bill: I use the ultrasonic cleaner on some cases, like my FN Five Seven. Stainless Shot, corn cob... Green and Red.. It depends on what I'm doing. Stainless shot works great for stripping off rust on steel in the tumbler.
