67 Shelby GT500 Intake Oil Breather Tube
« on: July 16, 2018, 03:37:39 AM »
I have looked through dozens of engine photos and see all sorts of coolant bypass tubes in the intake manifold.  There are black, blue, silver, grey, straight, slightly curved, and ones with a ridge 3/4 of the way down.

What is correct?

Based on some of your observations I would have to get clarification on if you are referring to the bypass tube in the intake manifold to the waterpump ,heater hose fitting or even the oil fill tube because it could fit some of the observations.

What is correct depends on what you are working on.  Here is a pic of the filler tube from my thermactor car.

So now it might be easier fi you tell us what car number you have (so we can look the details up) or you can provide when the car was built, what options and other details so we can focus on what would have been correct for your car.

Just one path to get to the most complete answer

Your picture shows the oil filler tube and not a coolant bypass tube. Regardless of which style (curved one for smog and the more common straight non smog )they are all were typically painted a approximate shine of semigloss black.

thanks for the clarification on bypass vs oil breather tube.  The confusion stems from parts suppliers listing these tubes often as bypass tubes.
