69 Six
« on: July 14, 2018, 04:46:15 PM »
A friend just gave me an original September 68 Shop Tips booklet.  On the back cover is an Autolite add with a pretty good shot of the engine compartment.  Brian

Interesting picture. Unless its a really dark slop color used on a couple of parts it appears that it might be a NJ car.

Holes in the radiator support are very odd. Not sure why they are there - ones along the top of the lip and one on the second lip just in front of the radiator
Just an odd thought - could this be something other than a Mustang engine compartment?

Radiator hoses still using tower clamps on a 6 cylinder also

Nice pictures of the battery + cable, the P/O shock tower hold downs w/ darker colored nuts and black painted shock tower supports.  No decals anywhere ?  No radiator support weatherstrip.  The two holes could be for hood hold downs but the centered one could be another car line all together ?  Brian

If a NJ it could be on the drivers inner rather than either shock tower as we have seen in other pictures posted. Battery inspection decal was not designed to last long - only for in house purposes and shortly (possibly to dealer delivery) after completion

No radiator support weatherstrip.

Yes have plenty of others (69 L's) with the radiator support seal installed

Holes for the hood pins were not prepunched in the panel for Mustangs - only installed on the line if the car was optioned as a GT or Mach I  so can't explain what they are doing there other than the idea that this might not be a Mustang. None of the other 69 6 cylinders or F code Mustang I have pictures of have the holes in the top surface

Torinos/Cyclones of the same year have the two holes for hood bumper mounts but other things in the engine compartment make those cars not a match. Don't have a falcon engine compartment handy to compare one of those
