67 Wiring sheath/sleeve locations
« on: May 02, 2018, 12:57:39 AM »
On the SAAC site the conversation turned to wire sheaths, sleeves or vinyl tubing surrounding wires. Although some very specific Shelby wires were covered with sleeves, very few 67 Ford Mustang wires were so covered.
The only Ford wires sheathed that we could identify were the door lights.  Today I was wrapping up  ::) the backup light switch restoration and noticed that that wire was also sleeved  -- this came late to me as the wire harness was pulled out of switch and located elsewhere.

Can you guys identify any other non-Shelby, Ford wires that were sleeved?

Just to clarify that your referring to the manual transmission back up light switch for a 67

For other looms that have sleeves the first one that comes to mind is the back up light short pigtails. There are others but the ones that come to mind are the cloth woven style we've discussed in other threads.

Sure others will come to mind but remember that many may also come with other details so its not just about the rubber sleeve ;)

Yes, the manual transmission backup light switch sleeve.

And I am referring to the nylon tube wire sleeve.

Hadn't thought of the back-up lights themselves!

You can purchase the tarpaper sheath from NPD. However, you will have to cut and splice the wire under the sheath for the license plate lamp.  I restored my license plate lamp as well. By the way, the same material is used as anti-rattle sleeve on the door rod that goes from the control to the latch. Dead Nuts offers it. You'll need two packages to do the door control rods.
There is a kit specific to the license plate lamp.

Also the trunk to fuel sending unit extension on convenience control optioned vehicles; an ~10 inch long section of the tilt column harness also.
