1966 arm rest pads

I just purchased an original pair of very nice, but used,  black 1966 armrests. I replaced my current repro set using these with NOS bases. The issue I have is that the ends curve up slightly leaving a gap. Is the any way to prevent this ??

A couple of points and questions: - Used means used. - Do the pads have the Ford part number on the mounting side? Ford pads have an extra internal support to reduce, if not eliminate, the "curve". The "curve" means you need new pads.

Yes, Ford part numbers molded into the vinyl. They lay flat on a table but once mounted, there is a gap. I tried backing off a bit on the screws but I don’t want it that lose.

Rats. Well they only cost me $10.  :-\. I guess I’ll look for an NOS set. Thanks Jim

There's a metal plate inside of them, you might try bending it upward in the middle area to help level it out when tightened.

 Good point Charles. I wasn't aware if that was possible. Mine look and feel much better than the repros with the exception of the 1/8" gap at the ends.  ;D
