Wheel Covers 1968 C code car
« on: April 12, 2018, 09:52:58 AM »
I'm looking for what might have been the original for hub caps for my car.  Marti report says my car had 6.95x14-4 Ply Rated White Sidewall Tires - Wheel Covers.  The car is a May 1968 car from Newark NJ.   How many plain covers were there for that year?  Mine I assume since not a upper grade model had the lowest budget style available.  Was there more than one?  I see on other threads something about dealers doing upgrades so does this open the door on choices as long as it is year correct?

Try http://squarebirds.org/Manuals/1965/1965-72FordPartsTextCatalog/  to see a picture. The service part number should be C7ZZ-1130-B, found in the Text Catalog section, 04-1965Text-Wheel.pdf section 10 page 24.
And while you are at it, download the entire 45 files to get your own 1975 Ford Car Parts, aka MPC (Master Parts Catalog).

I believe the C7ZZ-1130-B are the ones for 67.  That's what my 67 came with.  The 68 wheels start on page 25.  I believe the plain vanilla covers were C8ZZ-1130-A on page 26.

You are correct. Don't use a small screen to see small print, and careful on the "touch" too.

Lowest budget would have been painted (body color) wheels with dog dish hubcaps. Since the Marti report includes the wheel cover comment this would suggest a full hubcap - the next step up seen on allot of cars back in the day

Depends on you and what your trying to achieve with the restoration. Building it to the Marti report would be as delivered to the dealer, as built or factory. Anything else (without original documentation) becomes what could have been.  ::)

Some pictures of course - Think I've got them correct

Full hubcaps

Deluxe Full Hubcap

Wire Hubcap

Ok thanks that helps a-lot.  I attached a pair of hub caps and was not sure which to get.  I guess get the ones to the right.  Thanks again.
