66 Later Leaf Spring Paint Markings

Here are two pictures from 6S923, one before restoration and one after. Car scheduled for production at San Jose around
Jan 12, 1966 as obtained from Ford Vin and HiPo book.

The reason I suggested the earlier style of marking was because your springs were made about 2-3 months after the OP's ;)

At least from what I have recorded in my date spreadsheets

...then you have 6S933 with one side marked with the "round splatters" and one side marked with the "stripes"...pretty cool!

Interesting enough, the earlier dated (by 30 days) spring has the stripes. Maybe the paint markings were applied when installed on the car?

More a anomaly then the normal IMO.

Likely they took the spray can away from Fred first and made him use a brush   ::)  Always seems to be that one example     

They didn't mark the springs after they were installed since without the markings they likely wouldn't get installed on the right car.  Workers needed the color markings to pick out the right ones for the application.  Suggestions were based on a fair number of examples and trends.

Fred must have had a stash of spray cans. The original springs from 6S1757 also have one with dots, one with stripes, both dated Jan 16, 66.
