Which Trunk Weatherstrip for Oct 64 SJ Fastback
« on: March 13, 2018, 01:45:03 PM »
NPD sells both trapezoidal profile/shape, and U-shape trunk weatherstrip for my 65 fastback (oct 64 SJ).  Is there a build-date or assembly-plant rule that determines which would be original?

I bought the Daniel Carpenter one, which I think is NPD's number 43720-2B.  My original is still on the car and I think it is the U shaped.  Our cars are 3 weeks apart

both of shapes are Daniel Carpenter, just not sure which shape  I believe its U shape.

I cheaped out on the weatherstrip when I restored my car, and my Trunk isn't fitting right.  I THINK its because of the Poor weatherstrip...  maybe...  possibly...

No there is one that is closer to the original and one likely produced as a copy of a service replacement or "improved" part

Your looking for the U shaped as shown in a number of past threads

It's a more narrow/shorter version of the regular coupe/convertible one.

I had the same problem. I even went so far as to repaint the underside of my trunk before replacing the original. First one fit like crap and had to replace with a second. Definitely don't cheap out on this one.
