31 spline axles
« on: February 27, 2018, 01:25:10 AM »
Did Ford offer 31 spline axles in a 1965 or 1966 Mustang with a 9" rear axle? Thanks in advance for your answers....

Thanks Jeff. I was walking thru a junkyard last week and saw a '65 or '66 Mustang with what looked like 31 spline axles in it. The big drums is what first caught my eye. Is there any early axle that looks like a 31 spline at the end. (solid end with 3 small drilled holes)?

I clearly recall reading on the SAAC forum someone was running Ford supplied 31 spline axles on their 65/66, however they were not a standard production item.
You are referring to Rand Gillis (gt350hr) I think .He recently was posting that he replaced the factory 28 spline with 31's but they were not a ready made from the Ford factory axle.

Might have been looking at a 57-59 rearend that had been swapped into a 65-66 Mustang. Common swap from back int he day.  Have the same in my FiberFab Mustang
