Fender Bolt Markings - Early 69 San Jose
« on: January 29, 2018, 10:36:14 PM »
Hello All,

Does anyone know the fender bolt type for an early "69" Mach September delivery, San Jose plant?  #5's seem to be a popular choice for Dearborn, not sure if its what I need though.

Thanks,

Daven

Thanks Jeff, I guess I shouldn't of waited 28 years to start restoring the car.

Took a look at my collection and I found two head markings used.  Pictures with corresponding VINs below

Seen more Sems with the T in the circle through out the year but that is just me. You will find them also on 68 San Jose

Thanks Jeff, I did see those type of bolts for holding the deck lid in place at one time.  Are all the bolts which hold the truck lid on, painted the color of the car?

Thanks,

Daven

Trunk and fenders are often different bolts though they can be depending on year and plant

Yes as covered in many threads The trunk lid (with hinges),  doors, rear bumper guard brackets, and rear valance (attached with two screws ) were installed when the car was painted. End caps with set on the car but loosely  when the car was painted also

Hi All, and Jeff,

I found all my fender bolts that I had plated 20 years ago and they weren't like any of the pictures Jeff posted.  I'm going to try and post a picture of it to see if anyone else has these also.

Those were used on dearborn cars for sure and they are on my 69 fairlane convert, kansas built.  The bolt Big S Jeff shows are on my old SCJ drag car, san jose early Jan 69 built.

We've found those used on some Dearborn 69's in the past.

Might want to modify your post and explain (include) what car you have since hardware details can often be directly connected with production periods ;)

There's more to a "fender bolt" than the head marking. Just about all the factory installed fender bolts had a lead point tip (aka dog point tip), and there's the underside of the disc washer as well, toothed, smooth, etc. More pictures would be good.
