Worked in a body shop for a number of years. Ive found a few times that just a slight bend or mis alignment in a hinge can cause the hood to not close properly. More often than not allot of trial and error to even a little persuasion is needed. To help possibly produce some better suggestions can we assume that the original hinges went back on? were they disassembled? springs put back on the same hinge it came off of? Last summer I found a second set of hinges for my car as I didn't have the proper P/O finish on mine. Took quite a few attempts at locating the correct position of the hinge on the apron to get the hood to sit right but eventually got it. Previous owner had used shims to align the hood and I was determined to not put any back.

hinges not taken apart.
no shims used previously.
springs replaced as before.
seems to be a fiddling issue to get it adj properly.

The common adjustment procedure for high rear hood is to loosen bolts from hinge to apron, then push up on the front of the hood while tightening hinge bolts.  This may need two people.  Yes, it sounds backwards, but it does work.
