My trunk deck lid will not stay upright when open how do I tighten it or adjust it to stay in the upright position when the deck lid is open

Ross,
Per a friend with a May 67 San Jose fastback, you need a new torsion rod. The existing one cannot be twisted back to "normal" as it's spring steel which, by its spring properties, does not take well to twisting. I guess you know that.

If  65-67 fastback trunk torsion rod is installed correctly and in tension there are no adjustments as there are in other body types. Not sure how it happened but you might need to try another

I have had a good look at it today Guys, when I take the retainer clip off the trunk stays up with the torsion bar in a more straight line position, on the hinges, there are 2 mounting holes so I will try to second hole that is closer to the deck lid that should make the torsion bar straighter with the retainer clip back on

NOTE: going to move this to the 67-8  section since its move away from general trunk spring adjustment that would apply to many years to specifically about 67 fastbacks

Not sure where there are two mounting holes for the rod to pass through, maybe I'm missunderstanding but thought some pictures might help while I'm in the 67 fastback section of my pictures

Ok the red car photo seems to replicate my trunk the linkage bar to the right hand side seem more vertical than mine so that might be the problem I will adjust the linkage in the morning and take a photo and show you how I get on Jeff
