Early Ford ratcheting jack handle 1964 1/2 ?
« on: September 12, 2017, 04:10:53 PM »
Wondering if this ratcheting jack handle is from an early Mustang or maybe from another Ford? It is straight and not curved like others I have. Thanks for any responses.

Yes, that's the first of 3 versions.

Thanks Charles. So the million dollar question is; would this be correct for a June 64' Dearborn built Mustang? Or perhaps for an earlier built car, March,April, etc.

I don't know when they changed it, but I have an example of a car built in late May '64 with that style.

Hmmmm, I'll hang on to it then. I personally haven't seen another "straight" style as the bent style is much more common. Thank you!

If memory serves correctly, I believe that the later two versions also have a rounded handle versus the first design which is a "C" channel design.

Thanks for the reply. I have noticed that as well but never knew when the changes took place. If I ever show the car, I wonder if either jack would be accepted for my June built 1964 1/2? I'm trying to see which one I should keep in the car. The other one that came with my 64 1/2 (although these  can easily be changed out by the PO) is described as you said, with the rounded edge handle.
