68 SJ sound deadner
« on: January 11, 2015, 08:54:54 PM »
I am working on a 68 HCS that was built 6-20-68 in SJ. I found the length of the tunnel was sprayed with sound deadener something I usually do not see. My 68 HCS was built 7-16-68 and it did not have this. Was this possibly a Cougar thing that got done on a Mustang?

Whole length or started about the end of the trans rearward?

Would believe that you are correct that a worker not paying attention either started or put the material on this car forgetting it was a Mustang

As expected :)   Guess they started a sound deadener application like applied on 69- Mach I's and Grande's on Cougars for the deluxe cars and have some non- deluxe interior (XR7) Cougars that year and plant with just the driveline tunnel done. Since this was applied before the exhaust system was allot easier for the worker

Would I ???  Yes after documenting it  - but your task from there on is to mention it or inform others that see the car done that it is not normal nor should that detail be borrowed, stolen or migrate to another car ;)

Think I'm making up some small 3x4 magnets that I can attach to my Boss once its back together with the words "You can take pictures - Just don't copy the details" or something like that. Maybe with the sites letterhead for a little advertising :)

That message could be mis interpreted as being concerned about intellectual property instead of conveying the message that just because it is on this car doesn't mean it is correct for another car just like it.

Yep - that is why I'm still playing with the wording :)

Always hard to get things convey well as well as ones that can not be misconstrued in a very limited number of words
