Looking for info on 70 amp alternator - D1AF-10300-CA
« on: July 31, 2017, 09:12:00 AM »
I'm trying to track down the correct alternator for my 71 429 CJ and hoping someone here might be able to help me as I'm coming up empty handed.  My car currently has a NAPA special 55 amp alternator and according to the info I can find I should have a 70 amp alternator with a part number D1AF-10300-CA as I have both AC and heated rear glass.

Anyone have any info on this alternator or where I might find one?

Not sure what info your looking for. Since your asking about the alternator I'm unsure if you have the correct pulley or you'll need to find one of those also

Ebay, parts houses (would have to get very lucky ) or placing wanted ads around the web are going to be your best bet. If your not aware of it the number is stamped in the front half of the case, on top by where the long mounting bolt passes through. Don't know of other applications other than the 429CJ but haven't looked through the books

You'll find some info and pictures at the page linked below

Some of the info or suppliers may be dated

Hi Mark

I should have told you yesterday when talking about these................MOST of the AMK rebuilds as well as "probably many Jack" maybe doing today have the 100Amp diaodes in them already.   They will support PW, AC, Rear Window Defrost demands.

P.S. You can find a large case (truck 460/429 in the late 70's) but it will be a Motorcraft.

And different number stamped in the case ;)

Not sure about the "large case"  originals appear to be the same size as all the others

I have attached the AMA Specs for 71 model year.  The largest OE alternator would be the 61 amp but it does not appear as though that was listed in the 429 CJ/SCJ.  I do have the 61 amp on my 72 351C-2v with heated back lite.

Purchased a reman with correct casting numbers from these same guys in southern California. Pricey, but very happy with quality.
