Hole in Floor, under gas pedal
« on: July 04, 2017, 12:38:35 PM »
There is a hole through the floorboard, directly under the gas pedal that probably is not supposed to be there.
I may have drilled it to drain off water from the A/C many years ago...or did I?

Picture attached is from under the car with the reinforcement for the trans crossmember on the left, Park Brake cable bracket in the lower/center.

Our 67 GTA has the same hole but is filled with sealer.
You undercarriage looks nice. Is that original paint?

Good to know it is filled with sealer. I assume then it is applied under the carpet along the seam to the cowl? There is a notch in the floorpan at that location (inside the interior of the car).
As far as the original paint, yes, what is seen to the left of the image is original undercarriage paint but lightly top-coated with a match paint to check how well it would match. (what is on the right side of the image, towards the engine bay is PPG epoxy primer) As mentioned in other threads, much of my floor pan and lower frame rails had damage from bottoming the car out in an off-road episode back in or around 1978 so other areas not seen need work and that is my goal for this month, to have the whole underside & floors finished.

Can confirm I found the same/similar hole in at least another Nov built San Jose example. Didn't go through all my SJ pictures to look for others :(
