Aerosol red primer for spot painting May 67, Metuchen

I'm looking for suggestions on close match for  under carriage red oxide May 1967 Metuchen ?

i have never found one that is an exact match. always looks 'touched up'. an alternative would be to have some mixed to an exact match & put in an aerosol can. i have done that on several projects & it turned out well.

+1  plus it will most likely will produce a very flat finish unlike the original. Red oxide rattle can primers are primers - just that. Not a sealer like the originals so protection would be less also

I was thinking if it was too flat I could hit it w clear satin. It's the axle bumper mount on rear inner wheel house

Try Eastwood's red oxide "Rust Encapsulator".  It is very durable and provides excellent rust protection.
The color is about as close as you will get.

Just sharing personal experience and realize others may have different ones but I'll never again nor recommend  a Rust Encapsulator type of paint especially on a restoration project.  Finishes didn't match any original finishes, difficult to over coat, hard to work with, clean up and other issues.  And yes I tried more than one companies product then just found other, better ways to do the same task
