Topic: Ford AR60-1724-GC black out paint

I have a quart of Ford AR60-1724-GC Low Gloss Black "Acrylic Repair Lacquer"  that I received with my car when I purchased it 25 years ago. The previous owner had aquired quite a few NOS parts for restoration, and included this paint indicating that it is the correct textured hood paint for a 1970. The can appears to have never been opened, and is still full of liquid, so I would expect it to be usable. I understand that there is a difference in texture between the 69 and 70 black out paints. Can anyone confirm if this is the correct textured hood paint for a 1970 Boss?

Looks to be that its a product for touching up engine compartments. Guess it might be very similar or the same as the paint used for the pinch weld black out looking at Ford documentation.

The extension appears to indicate the size and or container - G = gallon, - C = 3 oz and so on.

AE60 1724-A - exterior black acrylic enamel paint (glossy) 3 oz container

AR60 1724-A - a 72 exterior black repair paint (code 1C) 3 oz. -C = qt container -S = 6 oz spray

AR60 1724-C as a 65-71 exterior black repair paint (code ) in quart size

AE60 1724 (blank) -  Low gloss black for 68 & 69 tutone hood - cowl - rear deck area. (code 5) 3 oz.  -GS = 6 oz spray container

 Could not find a listing for repair paint for the 70-73 low gloss paint in the 1975 reference as I would expect

Thanks much for the detailed reply, it's greatly appreciated! Should be a useful reference for others in the future. Unfortunately, still not entirely sure what I've got here. I figured out that the AR60 represent the lacquer based paints and AE60 is the enamels. It seems like the 1724 might be common to "black" paints, but not sure how consitent that is.

How about the packaging? Any idea when Ford started using the speed blurred Ford GT on their packaging? Just trying to figure out how old this paint could be. Possibly newer than the 1975 reference? I received it with my car back in 1991, and it was already showing some age at that point, so could possibly be from the late 70's or early 80's time period?
