That's the correct style for 64.5-65 and maybe 66.  This style was replaced by the pointed type that fits the common bell housing shift boot.

I don't know the switchover date, maybe some clues in single year MPC's.

The boot for the early style fork is near impossible to find.

I have a car built very, very close to Dave's, and it has the later style also. I can't say 100%, but it is very likely original to the car.

My Sept '64 San Jose has the "replacement" one also and I have no reason to believe it is not original.

A lot of things can happen in 52 years.  Wouldn't be unusual for it to be replaced, it's a wear item.

My 65 with build date  ( Dec 22 1964)  has the original clutch fork and is like the first picture.
