65 Fastback 2+2
« on: December 03, 2016, 04:44:52 PM »
Checking cars for sale I found this 65 Fastback V8 A/T. There are not many info in the add, but it says carb has been refurbished, engine and transmission working, original factory A/C, new filters and belts, new fuel tank..
What do you guys think about it at first shot..? I have to contact the seller and ask many questions, like VIN, door data tag, how about rust... I see that no 289 signs on fenders. Probably more wrong parts.. Well, just want to know if you think it's worth to continue asking or not...

If I understand the ad they are asking 28,000 euro. Is that correct?

IF your just asking don't see why not ask. At this point you have nothing to loose but your time and the education (if you don't purchase) will help down the line at some point as to what you should ask, what not to ask, what to look for specifically and so on

At this point you have little to go on but I would not hold out a belief that its some gem. Looks like poor body panel fit in some areas that likely mean something else is going on.  Someone has slopped thick paint or an undercoating around in the engine compartment and looks like the car was "Zebart"ed (a rust proofing process) at some time in the past. Forgive me if I miss spelled the company name :(

Looks like a fairly well optioned car for an export. I would expect there is some rust and structure issues though I don't know the Spanish area/conditions at all from my travels

Value or price would be completely up to the buyer

That is over $30K U.S. dollars. You can buy a mighty nice K code in the states for that kind of money. Buy the time you spend the money to restore that one you could come out better buying one here and shipping it home.  JMHO.

K code fastback?  Where?

Thanks Jeff and the others, as I said before, I just wanted to ask you based on you experience.
I know the prices for better cars in the US could be much cheaper, but same car put here, and once paid taxes, etc.. this price could be raised in several grands, even if they are Hardtops. I'm not intending to buy the car, just asking your personal opinions. I want to ask the seller about the car, and see what he explains.
Market is completely different here and there. Thanks for your posts guys.
