correct voltage regulator

What is the Factory Correct Voltage regulator for a dearborn 10/27/69 build 428 4spd non air car. Have seen conflicting "experts' state yellow top vrs silver top C8 unit. What came off the assembly line Thanks Lu

Good luck with this one! ;)  FWIW, the 1969 Osborn Assembly Manual says C8TF for 55A alternators (it actually says "A/C only"??) and also says 428 CJs all got 55A.  Not exactly crystal clear, but a case could be made from this for a C8TF IMO.

I'm not sure on this one either other than to say the alt should match the regulator. I too have also heard all CJs are 55amp but certainly the build sheets don't say that (other than AC cars)

Jim, I'm not sure. I've got dozens of 68 KR non ac build sheets that say 38 in the alternator box
