Topic: Thermostat Part Number Needed

Hi,

Could someone help me telling me the part number of the original thermostat for the 1965 Mustang, 289 - 2V. I understand that it was a 192 degree thermostat.... does it was Autolite?.... BTW, I'm looking for a NOS one.

The Ford part number is A8AZ-8575-C, Motorcraft RT-9. It is listed as a 190F (what's 2 degrees). Good luck with finding a NOS.

Thank you all for your help. So far, I have found part number A8AZ-8575-F instead of A8AZ-8575-C. What does the last letter stands for? Is it equivalent? What's the difference?

It's for a 390 engine before 12/01/66, replaced by A8AZ-8575-C (see above). If it will work is a question for the big block guys.

The 12/01/66 date has to do with the change in diameter of the hole in the intake manifold, thermostat ,and thermostat housing. Before they were large hole/size and after they were the smaller hole /size style. There are exceptions for this as is not that uncommon . For example the 67 Shelby's got the smaller hole intake,smaller thermostat and smaller thermostat housing even before 12/01/66 unlike what the MPC indicates.

Holy cow, I just read this.  I have a NOS A8AZ-8575-C Autolite 190 degree Thermostat MINT in the original 1966 box.  It's been sitting on my garage shelf for the last 12 years.  I picked it up at swap meet 12 years ago. I knew exactly what it was.  I will post some pics below!  Any idea what these things are going for...

I just did a search on Ebay.. and there are a few NOS RT-19 Autolite Thermostats....but no NOS Autolite RT-9 or NOS Motorcraft RT-9 thermostats on ebay... They must be popular...
