Quote: Awhile back I was talking about the #s stamped on top of machined area pad next to the dist hold down bolt about an inch. A mopar guy told me he was talking to a guy who worked at the engine plant & he said the inspectors or the builders stamped the last #s of there S.S. # on engine as a way to ID who built the engine. Well that may be true for some engines in some plants somewhere but after looking at some b9 block # stamps I found 4 & 3 & 2 & now a single # stamp so the last #s of SS would be 4 #s so that theory don't sound right on b9s anyway. Sean G recently sent me a pic of his dist stamp pad & it was 66 & on back of his intake wrote in white grease pencil was also 66 & I have seen #s wrote on the side of rear intake runner beforewhile cleaning them but was under the blue paint.Maybe Sean G can post his 2 pics he sent me . We were talking about if those #s could be the engine sequence #s as they werebeing built in order starting from 1 being first b9 engine assembled at Lima plant. I have a 427 sohc engine & they were # stamped in order as they were built (mine is 375) on front LH block just beside the timing cover so why not boss 429s they same way? Sean G. car is KK1260 so he could have the 66th engine assembled. Here are some #s Bernie sent me & some I just checked & it looks like this maybe correct. KK 1217-8 1225-2 1231-23 1240-63 1258-79 1260-66 1336-176 so then I checked a 70 b9 kk2268-1092 Remember just like the KKs don't stay in line with the VINs these blocks #s wont be either in any certain order but still within range anyway depending on how & what order they were shipped from Lima OH. to Brighton MI. & how they were invoiced & rotated around storage at KK. Owners who have their original blocks with there car care to post here your KK & dist.stamp # & # on rear intake side runner just forward of the oil pressure sender. Thanks & maybe we can figure this out?
