How to clean up a 1967 Woodgrain Steering Wheel Deluxe?
« on: July 04, 2016, 04:04:06 AM »
Hi,
Have got a Mustang 1967 Woodgrain Steering Wheel Deluxe.
This wheel has some pitting (small bubbles 0.5 - 1.0 mm) on A-surface in the triangle spokes with the 4 wholes each (not the horn ring, which is chrome)
How to get them off?
Not sure which material it is? Stainless steel, brushed?

- grinding wet paper 400?
- steel/chrome polish?

Any other idea would be highly appreciated.

Thx

You must have it replated to look correct.

You must have it replated to look correct.
Also if the pitting is too bad or pits too deep they will show up after it is re plated. Sometimes the plater can build up material to fill the pits . Sometimes they can not. A lot depends on the plater you use and your expectations.
