67 steering column bracket & harness
« on: May 17, 2019, 05:50:13 PM »
Hi,

on my Dec 66 San Jose Fastback, the turn signal harness is interfering with the clutch pedal stop. It looks like it was at some time fixed in place around the steering column with tape. I could not find any pictured of unrestored cars depicting this detail. How was the turn signal harness routed from the factory? Clockwise above the the steering column or anti clockwise?

My steering column is fixed to the dash with studs and nuts, which seems to be original but the upper bracket is missing. The bracket I am referring to is part -3676. In the MPC, I could not find any reference to a part number -3676 for the 67 model. Had this upper bracket been omitted in 67 cars?

Thanks
Laurent

The 67 fixed column has the 3676 bracket, called out as C0DF-3676-AD. Both my 67s have that part. Considering your (I think) non-stock bolts holding the column, someone has been in there.

The turn signal wires loop under and around the passenger side of the column tube and is held by a clip on the passenger side of the clutch pedal support.

The Osborne electrical assy manual shows this routing on page 18. You need this set of manuals for your car.

Thank you Bill, I‘ll check the Assembly Manual.
