Topic: whitewall tire restoration

Ive got some nos white stripe tires that have some staining in the whitewall , Ive tried Wesleys Blechewhite,  comet.  thinner  and it still is there.  any ideas appreciated!!

Comet and a stiff Nylon Brush always did it for me, but you've already tried that. The only other thing I used once in while, for really nasty spots, was medium to fine Steel Wool. Watch out for household cleaners as they may react with rubber; check the label, it may indicate if safe for automotive applications.

I wonder if Coker Tire or other Reproduction or Current Tire Manufacturers may be of help. Go on-line or call them, hopefully they'll have some suggestions.

Wesleys and a wire brush, but wesleys was sold and of course the product was changed and does not work as well as the old product.

I use soapy JEX (which is actually a steel wool pad with soap on the inside === you might need to google it) with great success on all kinds of stains/marks on new and old wsw tyres. This topic was also discussed on Hipo forum recently.

This may sound crazy, but try using camping fuel. It has worked for me in the past.

As a last resort, tape up the tire and use a white vinyl dye that matches.

..but I would also use a stiff, fine short-wire, brass scrubby brush (linda like a BBQ brush) & beaching tire cleaners first. New tire stores often use a similar style wire brush to clean white walls, some of that blue crap tire manufacturers  use to protect the white walls is stubborn as hell.
