Steering Wheel Shaft
« on: June 11, 2016, 08:16:00 PM »
Took the column off of my 66 GT (Oct '65 Metuchen) and noticed these markings on the steering wheel shaft.  Thought I would share.  Look pretty vivid color wise so not sure if these are original or not...

QUESTION.

Manual steer or Power steer car????

my manual steer NJ April 66 example has blue and yellow paint marks on the shaft similar to your pictures.

Not sure if colours are linked to the difference between power and manual steer.

According to the build sheet this is a power steering car.  Currently does not have power steering, but the box and build sheet confirm it should be...

Believe the markings are original - seen them (color marks on the steering shaft on 65-66 cars)  before

Never took the time to catalog and compare them to the three (think there are three) different types available  since they are unseen on a completed car.
