Hi guys,
can you tell me if the battery cables are supposed to go into the wire straps?  If so, that bottom one is going to be a bugger!

Took a look at the pictures I have and could not find an example from that month - that factory that I could post as a good example IMHO

Here are a few examples from just after that period and a bit later (partical VINs included for comparison) Also included with the wire retainers in the general area to help others with similar questions now and in the future

5R09C1508xx

Does not show that retainer just out of the picture above. It may hold wires and cable but can't be sure

Late Oct 64 car. Original picture from 64-65. Cable in the upper clip/retainer (purple arrow) but not in lower

5R07C161xxx In upper not in lower

5R09C1800xx

Sorry no smoking gun from my stuff

Your question motivated me to post two other related threads related to the same start cable

Thank you Brian and Jeff.  I think I'll follow the later vehicles with the cable in the upper retainer only.  If I need to change, at least it isn't that big of a deal to correct it.

BTW, took my car to the Friends of Steve McQueen car show and took home the trophy for best early Mustang!   ;D
