Restore a parking brake assembly ???

Hi !

Its that possible to restore a parking brake assembly ? Try to look where i can put out the center shaft to clean everything but i cant find ! Did someone already do this or its cant be done and need to buy a reproduction ??

They are pretty easy to restore.  I usually get the shaft zinc-plated and then clean/restore the rest of the parts.

The pin needs to be driven out. There is an access hole for using a small punch.

so i take the pin out, and by wich side the shaft come out..on the handle side or other side..i need to remove something else ?

There's a pin on the shaft, and a pin on the handle. The pin on the shaft needs to go back in so be careful. It gets driven out from the side in the shaft. There should be a slot to give access (it's been a while). Don't lose the ratchet and spring. Make a note of the way it's installed. The handle will need to be sacrificed - destroyed - to get its pin out. Replacements are available.

You can only drive the pin out in one direction. It has a bulbous head on one side. That one simply limits the handle travel. The other pin has a hair pin clip,which pushes out, then the pin and the cable idler will drop out.
If the shaft is in good condition, you can clean it up with 0000 steel wool,and replace the handle. It also has a pin that has to be drive out. The housing is semi-gloss black. Be sure to lubricate the idler pin when you re-install it.
