Are the outside dimensions the same for a non a/c radiator as with a/c....and is the a/c radiator 3 row, rather than 2?
No the 289 non A/C radiator is smaller then the heavy duty cooling radiator used on a 289 A/C equipped car. The HD radiator is wider. It is also different in appearance compared to a bigblock radiator .
From my learnings, 1967 with 289 engines received 20 inch bolt in radiators. They may have been 2 and 3 core.1967 with 390 received 22 inch radiators, and those were not bolted in directly. They used a pair of lower saddles and an upper bracket, similar to those found on 24 inch radiators starting in 1968.
The core for an FE is 24". not 22".Quote from: 67gta289 on March 10, 2016, 07:47:54 AMThe MPC, because of the understandable "a few sizes fits all" service mentality, is woefully inadequate in regards to identifying what specific radiators came from the factory. However, it does specify three things:1. 200 = 20-1/4" core width2. 289 = 20-1/4" core width3. 390 = 23-1/4" core width
