Topic: 68 deluxe seat upolstery stiching

I drove our 68 GT350 to a show yesterday and was parked in the sun. The interior has the original black deluxe interior and in the sun light I could see the about 10% of the thread used in the seat stitching was blue not black. I thought that was interesting.

Seen this allot - the issue/challenge  is if it was bluish originally Normally the easiest one to notice is that upper corner that faces the driver and passenger window

Should remember to take a seat apart to see if the stitching in side (not exposed) is the blueish or is black

Not that its related at all, there are a number of things related to paint that look black on Mustangs that go on blueish but build to a solid black

Two that stand out are the 69-70 gauge surround paint and the hood black out.  Looks really odd on a Coral hood when you do the first coat. By the 3rd pass it's built up to a black

I have a old black cover that I saved I'll check it in side.

Ok I checked the back of the seat cover tonight and what is black stitching on the front is grey on the inside and what is blue on the front is white on the inside.
I still think it would have looked strange when new.

Marty, It sounds like maybe a faded dye issue. Since we can only see this through your eyes, what do you think? Mike

I recovered some black 68 seats yesterday and was surprised the red thread used in them.

Guess that they didn't care in those normally unseen locations. Have seen green there before
