Front Spring Markings San Jose 66 GT

Does anyone have any examples of San Jose 66 GT front spring markings?

Yes :)

Its just a single red stripe applied with the spring out of the car laying on its side or upside down (from the installation orientation)

Depending on production month I've seen it applied as a strong true red or a muddy red oxide color red. More often the true red. Of course, like with any front springs both could have originally received the over/under additional white stripe also but if it wasn't there originally would not add it

We yours in such a condition that the color was not visible any longer?

In addition - does the car have factory air conditioning?  If so the spring stripe color would likely be "brown" which was the highest rated spring offered on the Mustang in 65 / 66 (slightly stiffer than the red striped spring to account for the additional weight of the AC compressor).  Soak your springs in Evaporust to see if you can see any evidence of the stripes.  That process worked for me.  I have a '65 Mustang GT with AC (factory GT and AC - late July of 65 Metuchen build date) and my car had the brown striped springs. 

My understanding of the various springs offered on the 65 / 66 Mustang and their markings is listed in the table below primarily using the Master Parts Catalog (which I realize are imperfect).

Even heavier that the GT with AC would have been that selection plus the thermactor system which also hase to be a consideration if your using those charts for replacement springs. Just something else to consider. Guess we should have asked for some more detailed information at the start as usual. Yesterday was a long day for me  8)

Convertible vs coupe/fastback is also a factor. According to the MPC charts (I'm referencing a June, 1966 copy), all GT convertibles had brown, for all combinations of A/C T/E, etc. Coupe/fastback had some combinations brown, some red.

It is an air-con car with thermactor. In hindsight I would have definitely you the evaporust route but too late for that now.
