Leaf spring daubs - 65 San Jose K code/Shelby
« on: December 31, 2015, 05:30:29 AM »
I've completed my searches and can't find any info relating to my Nov 65 SJ Shelby leaf springs. I only found green and yellow daubs on the small dated leaves and did not find any stripes on the main leafs near the eyelet. Were the green and yellow daubs all there was or has the surface rust diminished the stripes?

Thanks Ray

Yes, that's all you'll typically find.  The dots are normal for SJ '65 cars.

Soak those in evapo-rust to get a better picture of how they were applied.  The colors will come up a lot brighter by soaking them.

For others seeing and reading this post take note that these springs are marked C4ZA-5556-S for those specific marks and applications

These springs were installed on GT and Shelby's and as Charles reported the dots or daubs was typically found on 65 into 66 production then a jumbled change over to stripes to mark the springs
