Difference in Brake Pedals
« on: January 03, 2016, 11:57:23 AM »
On the manual transmission cars there is a difference in the design of the pedals.  Ford parts lists three different numbers as follows:  '65  # C5ZZ 2455-A (before 8/17/65),  65/66  # C5ZZ  2455-J,  65/66  #C5zz 2455-G Disc brakes.   Attached are pictures of three pedals all different.  Does anyone know the application of these pedals?

From what I can see in the pictures, they're all post 8/17/65 pedals. Earlier pedals had no provision for a brake light switch, as it was mounted on the master cylinder.
First one has no pedal return stop, other two have different versions. Fast and furious production, and different vendors I believe are the reasons. Only difference I have noticed between automatic and manual 65 pedals is the width of the foot pad plate. Others may have more info.

I compared these to other pedals I have and realized the specific difference in the 64.5 compared to 65/66 is the length of the stud on the brake pedal.  This is where the master cylinder to brake pedal arm attaches.  These 3 are all 65/66.  That answers my question on what the application is for these pedals but I still am wondering what is different with a disc brake pedal compared to drum brakes as listed with different part #'s in the Ford Parts book?

I'm not sure where this was discussed but these pics show the difference between the disc and drum brake pins

Also to add the disc brake pedal had a D stamped on the side of it.

I started a topic on the disc brake pedal difference about 3 years ago and I have attached the link to the thread below to add to this discussion.

Couple compare shots of my June 64 pedals to a 1966 T code pedal set.
