Hi all, I have a very late Dearborn S code coupe. Factory A/C car, but missing everything under the hood. What sort of compressor would it have had??
How are they dated??
It currently has a low mount alternator, I'm guessing that is incorrect??
Any pics of the front accessories with belt and pulley arrangement??

With no other information other then being a Dearborn car it is less then likely that the low mount (thermactor equipped) is original . If it was a San Jose car it would be the other way around .If it had thermactor you would have the low mount (smog pump mounts above).

That was my guess as well.  Now I need to try and source just about everything under the hood. Any ideas on what sort of compressor it would have had??

Cast steel painted semi-gloss black not the aluminum style

Tecumseh brand compressor is the cast iron one.

The less common York, was cast aluminum.

Believe you'll find that the dealer installed and in general service replacements were the aluminum versions. Might be due to the fact they were not going to rust on the shelves add weighed allot less for handling and shipping purposes

As "krelboyne" wrote the aluminum pumps are referred to as York pumps which is somewhat odd since the main cases are cast with Lester the supplier and were supplied (well at least some of the time) by Borg Warner  at least 67-68 but again there were, most of the time, over the counter units

Unless you have one of the rivet or bolt on labels from your application - no other applications will have different part/engineering numbers and dates if your going that far.


Will leave the dating question "krelboyne" since I know he's been looking at these details this last week

As for pictures I think this is one of those times were an Assembly Manual would be well worth getting. It will have all the fan belt routing, hardware and brackets shown in exploded views

Below at some pictures of course each example has been modified or maintained through the years so don't assume anything is factory correct by itself. Check or ask to confirm
