Shop manual
« on: November 03, 2015, 08:26:55 PM »
I just came across a 68 shop manual, its dated November 67 and it came with 68 passenger car maintenance and lube manual and two 68 ford car service specifications booklets they are the size of an old fold up map. My question is should  all shop manuals come with these 3 other books, or better yet what is this set called when someone would ask.

Some years have individual books dealing with drivetrain, body and other areas of the car while others are single books.

Don' think the booklets were part of the shop manuals, Would have to dig out one of the order forms but recall them being different order numbers so not part of "set"

From 65 to 67 the Shop Manual was a single book.  In 69 it went to a 5 volume set.  The supplemental  booklet was available and may have been purchased at the same time or picked up later. The other stuff you have is just stuff the previous owner picked up somewhere and passed along to you.  Brian

The 65-68 manuals had the supplements you described . 69 is when the multiple manual sets started.

The 65 and 66 Shop Manuals are about 1 and 1/8" thick.  I going guess the 68 is about the same ?  So how the 69 manuals got to be more than twice that size is beyond me.  Brian

Through '68 there was one manual that covered Cougar, Fairlane, Falcon, Montego, Mustang. Yes, I can recite that from memory  ::)   In '69 and up, the full Ford/L-M lineup was combined into the five-volume set. Look at the tab headings on the front cover - eleven car lines.

It even came with an order form for more service manuals.
