69 mustang old date code parts??
« on: October 22, 2015, 08:58:05 PM »
Today I started P/o ing a few of my larger parts. I took photos of each part and part number as displayed after the media blast because that's when they seem to be the most visible for photos and documentations.  Two parts I found had very old date codes that made me wonder.  This first was the Power steering box.  From mustang tek it codes for 67-70 with power steering (SMB-K) I think,, which is correct but the date code was 7L22.  It that even possible?  The other was a brake booster which was 5C10.  My car was dec 12 1968 line.  What do you guys think? these are the only parts that Ive found that have a very old date code.

With nothing else known about your car I would guess that like most used cars parts have been replaced by exchanging them with either a rebuilder or taken from another car.  Earlier or later - remember the date code often does not include the year and if they do they don' t often ever show the decade ;)

Dang. I thought that was the awnser.  Those are the only two date codes that have not been close.  I hate that.  I was hoping since the part numbers where rgt then maybe it was possible for a year old 1967 part to originally end up on a manufactured 68
